A Guide to JoFotara E-Invoicing for a Small Dairy
By Saleh Kamal Al-Saleh, dairy farm and cheese factory owner, founder of Lebnara · Last updated:
Many small dairies in Jordan treat e-invoicing as an extra burden: one program for sales and another for official invoices. This guide summarises what you must prepare, where mistakes usually occur, and how to make the official invoice a natural result of the sale instead of a separate step. It is a practical introduction and does not replace your accountant or the instructions of the Income and Sales Tax Department.
Step 1: Know your obligation with your accountant
Requirements differ by the type, size and tax classification of the business, and may change over time. Ask your accountant or check with the Department directly: is your business covered? From what date? And what type of invoices are required?
Step 2: Prepare the linking credentials
Your business obtains its own linking credentials to send invoices. Treat them as you would your bank account password: do not send them on WhatsApp and do not share them with more than one person you trust. In Lebnara you enter them in the tax settings, and they stay private to your company.
Step 3: Organise your products and their taxes
- A clear name for each product and the right selling unit (kilo, piece, tub).
- The correct sales tax rate for each product according to its classification.
- Up-to-date selling prices, since a wrong price becomes a wrong official invoice.
Step 4: Try one invoice before expanding
Issue one invoice and ask your accountant to confirm it appears properly in the national system. Finding a mistake in one invoice is far cheaper than finding it in a hundred.
Common mistakes
- Entering invoices by hand in two different systems so the numbers drift apart.
- Postponing sending to the end of the month so errors pile up.
- Forgetting a credit note on a return.
- Posting the linking credentials in chat groups.
How does Lebnara help?
The invoice is sent from the cashier itself at the time of sale, the QR code returned by the system appears when sending succeeds, and the software retries automatically on temporary errors. Details are on the JoFotara page for dairies.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need special software for e-invoicing?
- You need software that connects to the national system. Lebnara includes this link, so you do not need two programs.
- What if the internet drops?
- Selling at the cashier continues and invoices are saved on the device, then synced and sent when the connection returns.
